Vol 7 Use Snipping Tool to capture screen shots

Add the Snipping Tool to your Taskbar first.

   1. Click  "Start"
   2. On the Apps Scroll Bar
   3. Scroll down and Click "Windows Accessories                      Folder"
   4. Scroll down and Right Click  "Snipping Tool"
   5. Click "More" and slide over and Click "Pin to                          Taskbar"

You can now use the Snipping Tool to capture a screen shot, or snip, of any object on your screen, and then annotate, save, or share the image.

This is the top of the Senior Center Web Page.

Use the Snipping Tool to capture a "Snip" of just the "Flag".

You can capture any of the following types of snips:

Free-form Snip.      Draw a free-form shape around an object.

Rectangular Snip.  Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.
Window Snip.         Select a window, such as a browser window or dialog box.
Full-screen Snip.    Capture the entire screen.
After you capture a snip, it's automatically copied to the Clipboard and the mark-up window. From the mark-up window, you can annotate, save, or share the snip. The following procedures explain how to use Snipping Tool.

 To capture a snip

Click to open Snipping Tool with the Screen showing the "Item" to Snip.
Click the arrow next to the New button, select Free-form Snip, Rectangular Snip, Window Snip, or Full-screen Snip from the list, and then select the area of your screen that you want to capture.
Click the "New Box".
Outline the "Item to Snip and Click Save As a picture in your desired folder.

To annotate a snip

After you capture a snip, you can write and draw on or around the snip in the mark-up window.

To save a snip

After you capture a snip, click the Save Snip button in the mark-up window.
In the Save As dialog box, enter a name for the snip, choose a location where to save the snip, and then click Save.

To share a snip

After you capture a snip, click the arrow on the Send Snip button, and then select an option from the list.

Can I capture a snip of a menu, such as a shortcut menu or the Start menu?

Yes. Here's how:
Click to open Snipping Tool.
First choose your delay time.

Choose the type of snip you want to make by clicking the arrow next
to "New" (free-form, rectangular, window, or full-screen).
Click "New" to start the snipping process. Unlike a regular snip, the screen
will not immediately fade out for you to create your snip. instead, you will have between 1 and 5 seconds, depending on the delay you chose, to set up your screenshot. Now is the time to right click and open that "Pop-Up Menu" you want to capture.

After the time is up, the screen will freeze and fade out so you can create your snip. Any pop-up menus that were open when the screen froze will stay open.

Example:
On the Desktop, Open the Snipping Tool, set the timer at 5 seconds, and click the New Box.

Right click the mouse and Click New to get the drop down choices.

When the screen dims you can outline and do your snip.

Create your snip by drawing a line or rectangle around the part of the screen you
want to capture. if you chose window or full-screen, your snip will be automatically created when the screen freezes.
Click the “Save as” button to name and save your screenshot.
